Are you interested in earning an advanced degree in a health care profession like dentistry, medicine, etc.?  If so, terrific!  Who do you see for pre-health advice?

  • If you are a 1st or 2nd year student your pre-health advisor is Ali Botsis (see below for contact information).
  • If you are a 3rd or 4th year student your pre-health advisor is Patty Davis (see below for contact information).
  • If you are interested in Pre-PT or Pre-OT, your pre-health advisor will be Ali Botsis regardless of year.

Pre-Health Advising at the University of South Alabama
Pre-Health Advising and Programs operates under a 2-2 tiered advising model for students considering graduate work in the pre-health professions. 

The following programs are under the pre-health attribute:

  • Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Physician Assistant, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Veterinary, Pre-Optometry, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Occupational Therapy, and any other professional graduate program in health care.

Pre-Health students in their first two academic years will work with Ali Botsis, professional pre-health advisor.

  • Students will be advised on appropriate courses and non-academic development for specific professional graduate health programs.

Students in their 3rd and 4th years will be advised by Ms. Patty Davis, Associate Director of First Year Advising.

  • Ms. Davis will assist in preparations for testing, as well as continued guidance toward successfully completing pre-requisites for professional health programs.

Transfer students with less than 60 credit hours will be under the auspices of the First Year Advising Center and Ms. Botsis until entry into their third year.
All Pre-Physical Therapy and Pre-Occupational Therapy students with be advised by Ms. Botsis throughout their time at South Alabama (years 1-4).

All other transfer students, EAP students and post-baccalaureate students will work directly with Ms. Davis from the start of their academic program.
