Second Annual Sales and Marketing Career Fair Held March 20 & 21

The Department of Marketing and Quantitative Methods hosted its second Sales and Marketing Career Fair on March 20-21.  The event provided a rich opportunity for students and employers to connect and discuss alternative job possibilities, both locally and nationally.  This year’s Fair included 12 employers representing a range of organizations and industries.  Among the participants were Enterprise Holdings, C.H. Robinson (Logistics), Worldwide Express, Mobile Paint Manufacturing Co., Ethos Group, Keller/Williams Realty, Regions Bank, Silvaris, and others.

The Employer Reception on March 20 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. was the kick-off event.  The reception provided an informal setting for employers, students, faculty and staff to interact and to learn about job possibilities in the various organizations.  Conversations from this event were fruitful in setting the tone for the Career Fair on March 21.  It led to some very substantive student questions at the Fair.  In fact, surveys indicated that 95% of employers were very satisfied with the quality of questions asked by students.

Employer surveys indicated a high level of satisfaction with the entire event.  Over 90% of the employers planned to schedule follow-up interviews after the Career Fair.  All of the employers were pleased with the venue on-site in the Mitchell College of Business.  Visiting with business students on their home turf made a big difference in the overall atmosphere of the event.

On the student side, there was also a high level of satisfaction with the event.  In fact, the event was rated 4.63/5.0 as helpful by students.  Specific student comments include, “Great way to network,” ”Helpful in learning what sales and marketing employers are seeking,” and “Helped develop my interviewing skills.”  Several students scheduled 2-3 follow-up interviews as a result of attending the Career Fair.  Plans are already underway for the March 2018 Fair in the Mitchell College of Business.
